A smarter, cheaper way to heat your hot water
Heat pump hot water systems use up to 75% less energy than traditional electric or gas systems โ and Victorian Energy Upgrade rebates can knock thousands off the install cost. We size, supply, install and handle the rebate paperwork.
A heat pump heats water without burning anything
Most older hot water systems either burn gas or use a high-resistance electric element โ both of which use a lot of energy. A heat pump works differently. It draws warmth from the surrounding air and uses it to heat the water stored in the tank. It's the same principle as a reverse-cycle air conditioner, but applied to your hot water.
The result: significantly lower running costs, much lower emissions, and a system that's eligible for substantial government rebates because it's so much more efficient.
Lower bills, smaller footprint, future-ready home
Hot water is one of the biggest single energy costs in most Australian homes. Switching to a heat pump system makes a measurable difference month to month, and futures-proofs the home against gas-price volatility.
Lower running costs
Heat pumps use a fraction of the energy of conventional electric or gas systems โ meaningful savings on every quarterly bill.
All-electric
No gas connection required. Works well with solar โ heat water during the day using your own power.
Lower emissions
Significantly lower greenhouse gas emissions than gas or resistive electric hot water โ especially as the grid keeps decarbonising.
Long warranty
Quality heat pump hot water units come with warranties of 6+ years, with most lasting 10โ15 years in service.
Get the right tank size for your household
Hot water demand changes over the life of a home โ kids grow, families add, work-from-home routines shift. Victorian Energy Upgrade guidelines recommend sizing the tank based on the number of bedrooms, not just current occupancy, so the system stays right for the long haul.
An undersized tank means running out of hot water at the worst moment. We size based on bedroom count, fixture count, and household routine โ and we'd rather slightly oversize than leave you cold.
Guideline only โ we confirm the right size for your home during the assessment.
Up to $3,000 off your install cost
Victorian Energy Upgrade (VEU) rebates reward households for switching from old, inefficient hot water systems to heat pumps. The rebate amount depends on the system specified, your existing setup, and your address โ and it's applied as a discount at the point of sale, not refunded later.
We're an accredited VEU provider. That means we can confirm your eligibility, calculate the exact rebate, and apply it directly to your final price โ so there's nothing for you to claim, lodge, or wait for.

How we handle it
Heat pump hot water questions answered
How much will I actually save on my bills?
It depends on your current system, your household's hot water use, and your energy plan. As a general guide, heat pumps use roughly a quarter of the energy of a conventional electric hot water system. We can give you a more specific estimate as part of the quote.
Will it work in cold Melbourne winters?
Yes. Modern heat pump hot water systems are designed to operate efficiently in temperatures well below what Melbourne reaches in winter. There's a small efficiency drop on the coldest days, but the system continues to deliver hot water reliably year-round.
How noisy is it?
About the same as an outdoor air conditioning unit โ roughly the level of a quiet conversation. We site the unit thoughtfully (typically against an external wall, away from bedroom windows) to keep noise unobtrusive.
Can I run it on solar?
Absolutely โ heat pump hot water and solar are a brilliant combination. You can set the system to heat water during the day when your panels are generating, effectively storing free energy as hot water. We can advise on timer setups during the install.
What sizes do you install?
We install 170L, 270L and 300L+ systems from quality brands. The right size depends on your bedroom count and household routine โ see the sizing guide above, or we'll confirm during the assessment.
Do I need to do anything to claim the rebate?
No. We're accredited under the Victorian Energy Upgrade program, which means we handle the paperwork, registration and rebate calculation. The discount appears on your final quote โ there's no claim form, no waiting, no chasing.
Can I get a rebate on a heat pump for heating the house too?
Yes, but that's a different rebate scheme. If you're looking at heat pumps for hydronic heating or all-electric home heating, see our electric heating page for the relevant rebate information.
